The application won't install, update, or is showing on the wrong screen. There are a wide variety of reasons the app wouldn't install on your computer. These steps will guide you through the most common issues.
A. Installation Failure & Fallback Order (Admin Escalation)
If the standard install from apps.merlyn.org fails, click on the word "More?" under the big green button, and try alternative methods in the following order:
- MSIX Installer
- Microsoft Store

ZIP Installation (Last Resort): ⚠️ Warning: This method will not automatically update.
- Unzip the downloaded file
- Open the "bin" folder.

Run the Merlyn exe file. Pin this to your toolbar for quick access.
B. System Permissions Check (The Non-Admin Gate)
- Action: If the app launches but voice commands fail, try the System Permissions Check outlined in 🎙️ Merlyn Doesn't Hear Me.
- Antivirus Blocking: Temporarily disable local antivirus. If this works, contact your IT Admin to whitelist the Merlyn app.
C. Display & Browser Configuration Issues
- Overlay on Wrong Screen: Open the overlay, click the Account icon (👤), and select "Change Main Screen" to manually select the desired display.
- Merlyn Opens Wrong Browser: Ensure Google Chrome is set as your default system browser.
D. App Launch Failure & File Path
- Mac Users: Ensure the app file was moved from the 'Downloads' folder to the main 'Applications' folder before launching.
- Windows 10 Users: Ensure your computer meets the minimum standards for Merlyn Origin.
F. Final Escalation: Clean Reinstall
