Merlyn Chat

Merlyn Chat is a Q&A chatbot that enables the teacher to get answers to questions quickly during live instruction. The answers are AI generated by Google Gemini and our own proprietary Merlyn LLM. 

Ask a question, and Merlyn Chat will answer.

Use the push-to-talk button to ask a question, and Chat will open to provide an answer. 

On Windows and MacOS, a Chat window will open on the desktop. 

On ChromeOS, Chat will open a new tab on the browser. 

Chat interactions and icons

• The gear icon will allow you to adjust your chat interaction profile. Your admin will be able to define which content is and is not appropriate based on your student grade level and content required. (Coming soon)
• Use the D-Pad to scroll up and down through your chat history. Your history will be retained until you re-start the app or clear your chat history using the "clear screen" button beneath the gear icon.
• Merlyn will read your answer aloud. You can toggle this feature on and off by clicking on the speaker icon beneath the clear screen button. 
• If you want to type your questions into Merlyn chat, you can use the keyboard icon to open a text box. 

• If you want to know the sources for Merlyn's answers, click on the "link" icon beneath the answer text. 
• Next to the "link" icon, the "trashcan" icon will delete the question and answer from your history.
• The "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" icon will allow you to provide feedback on the quality of the answer. 
• When Merlyn Chat answers your question, it will also provide images relevant to your query. The images are checked for appropriateness before being displayed to the right of your response.
